9 - The Quiet Man (1952)
Retired boxer, Sean Thornton (John Wayne) returns to the Ireland he left as a child, and falls in love with fiery redhead, Mary Kate Danaher (Maureen O'Hara), a wilful ball of fire who refuses to be tamed. To complicate matters, Thornton falls foul of Mary's brother, the granite-jawed Red Will Danaher (Victor McLaglen), whose immediate dislike of the newcomer leads to one of the all-time great film brawls.
Supported by a glorious cast, it's a gorgeous paean to a picture-postcard Ireland, and one of cinema's most tempestuous, and hard-fought romances.
Magic Moment: "He'll regret it till the day he dies... if he ever lives that long"
